Darcie’s great, great grandfather, Fritz R. Ruegsegger, came to America with his family from Switzerland in 1875 to pursue a career in winemaking. In 1883, Fritz’s son and Darcie’s great grandfather, Christian Ruegsegger started his own winery, the Alpine Winery, in St. Joseph, Missouri, which held bond #62 in the United States. Along with managing the vineyards and all winemaking tasks, Christian hand painted his own wine labels. The Alpine Winery bottled its last wine in 1945, when hard times following the repeal of Prohibition forced the family to shut down operations. Darcie Kent now proudly carries on the family tradition as a fifth generation vintner and artist for the winery that bears her name, Darcie Kent Vineyards. About Me Painting makes me very happy and I would like share this feeling with people around me. Our lives are busy sometimes we need to slow down and enjoy the little moments. My art records this time. My art style comes from my eastern root traditional eastern brush painting then blended in watercolor. I would like to call them "one of kind east meets west art". I created a style called "Watercolor on Canvas" and I really enjoy it. Eastern style on western media created a contemporary new feeling. Most of my art lately I tend to create them spontaneously with a bit of preparation so I can stay original and let my imagination grow without the limitation of the art skills.
