Darcie’s great, great grandfather, Fritz R. Ruegsegger, came to America with his family from Switzerland in 1875 to pursue a career in winemaking. In 1883, Fritz’s son and Darcie’s great grandfather, Christian Ruegsegger started his own winery, the Alpine Winery, in St. Joseph, Missouri, which held bond #62 in the United States. Along with managing the vineyards and all winemaking tasks, Christian hand painted his own wine labels. The Alpine Winery bottled its last wine in 1945, when hard times following the repeal of Prohibition forced the family to shut down operations. Darcie Kent now proudly carries on the family tradition as a fifth generation vintner and artist for the winery that bears her name, Darcie Kent Vineyards. Mobility Matters is facilitating collaboration and coordination between public and private transportation providers, creating a network of integrated options that primarily address the mobility needs of seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income individuals. In addition to working with other transportation providers on their programs and services, Mobility Matters offers some programs and services directly. Our overall goal is to see that the programs and services we offer contribute to our clients’ primary goal, which is to age in their own homes with the support they need. We are significantly increasing our clients’ opportunities for healthy aging by providing our services to them, especially escorted rides to obtain the clinical care they need, as well as the basic necessities of life.
