In the 1940s, Evelyn Overton found a recipe in her local Detroit newspaper that inspired her “Original” cheesecake. Everyone loved her recipe so much she decided to open a small bakery, but eventually gave it up to focus on raising her children, David and Renee. She moved her baking equipment to her basement kitchen and continued to sell cakes to some of the best restaurants in town. In 1972, Evelyn and her husband Oscar moved to Los Angeles to try one last time to have their own business. Program Times We are open 7am - 6pm, Monday through Friday. We allow our families to choose the schedule best for them (2 - 5 days) based on their schedule and our availability. Some children attend the full time program 7am - 6pm. Some children attend the morning session 8:3 am - 12, and others stay for a hot lunch until 1 pm. Established in 1981, Diablo Hills Country School is a family venture that provides safe, educational experiences that last a lifetime. Our student to teacher ratios are consistently lower than mandated by the state in order to best develop each child, unlike many high volume commercial day care center competitors. Our facilities were built with smaller classrooms in order to provide a warm, home like learning center. Our curriculum is a developmentally structured program that supports the goals of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and prepares the children for Kindergarten while having fun. Our goal is for the children to develop a positive self image while honoring each family's unique cultural situation. We are fully licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services and are currently undergoing the NAEYC process in order to obtain NAEYC accreditation. Darcie Kent Vineyards

Darcie’s great, great grandfather, Fritz R. Ruegsegger, came to America with his family from Switzerland in 1875 to pursue a career in winemaking. In 1883, Fritz’s son and Darcie’s great grandfather, Christian Ruegsegger started his own winery, the Alpine Winery, in St. Joseph, Missouri, which held bond #62 in the United States. Along with managing the vineyards and all winemaking tasks, Christian hand painted his own wine labels. The Alpine Winery bottled its last wine in 1945, when hard times following the repeal of Prohibition forced the family to shut down operations. Darcie Kent now proudly carries on the family tradition as a fifth generation vintner and artist for the winery that bears her name, Darcie Kent Vineyards. Like her great grandfather before her, Darcie uses her original art for her wine labels and strives to capture the unique spirit of each vineyard and its owner, in her breathtakingly beautiful labels that grace each bottle.
