Blackhawk Museum
The Children’s Education & Transportation Fund, a reimbursement bus fund established by the Blackhawk Museum Guild, provides school groups from around the Bay Area funding for the transportation costs to the Museum. Over 150,000 students have attended the Museum in the last 18 years, and with free programs that are targeted at every age group, there will be many more in the coming years. Our story began when we wanted to fulfill a lifelong dream of opening our own family business. All we had was each other, a strong family bond, a hard work ethic and Mama's recipes, which we all loved since childhood. In the beginning we all did our part, Mama, Luis Jr. and Jesus could always be found in the kitchen, Papa was busy washing the dishes, Carlos and Nancy would help as soon as school was let out and Maricela worked the front desk. We worked everyday from 7:00 a.m. until closing. We are so proud of what we have accomplished as a family run business.

Highlights of Porky’s Pizza Palace History
1963 – Porky’s Pizza Palace is founded by the Marrone family and became the hub of the Washington Manor area family and sports teams.
1983 – The Valenziano family purchases Porky’s Pizza Palace after moving from Illinois.
2006 – Sal and Shirley Valenziano retire, leaving day-to-day operations and management to their sons, Gregg and Gary Valenziano.
2013 – Over 500 $1 large cheese pizzas are served on our 50 year celebration, gathering old and new customers alike to help us celebrate!
2013 – Porky’s Pizza celebrates 50 years in the San Leandro Community!
2013 – Porky’s Pizza Palace competes in the International Pizza Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada.
2018 – Porky’s opens our Porky’s Pizza Palace Pleasanton location on the corner of Hopyard Rd. & Valley Ave. offering the same great Pizza, Chicken, CraftBeer, Cocktails and Community Service along with a outside patio that seats 95 people.

Lori has been in business since 1989 and has a BA in Liberal Studies/Credential Track with an option in Early Childhood Studies. Lori holds a Master Teacher Certificate.
The program's goal is to instill the joy of learning and create a strong foundation for the child. Kindness, respect, responsibility, communication, independence and self-regulation are encouraged. Cognitively, students are exposed to science, math, engineering, language and literacy, social studies, art, music, dramatic play, and cooking. There is a nice balance between free choice and structured activities in a calm, safe, and positive environment. Lori believes children learn mainly through play exploration and hands-on experiences.
