The First Street Alehouse wants to be your home away from home.
Inspired by two brothers who wanted to bring a small slice of Chico to their new home town, the Alehouse provides an upbeat, social atmosphere while fostering a strong sense of community. It has been said that you may walk in the door not knowing anyone but you are sure to walk out the door with a few more friends.
A lot has happened since we opened in 2000. After a tremendous amount of community support, the Alehouse successfully transitioned to their new larger location in April of 2010. This has allowed them to better serve their guests. Now home to the largest publicly displayed beer can collection, housing over 6000 cans, the decor has changed but the feeling has not. A marriage, two kids and two dogs later these brothers continue to have the same vision for their business; provide quality food and beverages for a fair price, and treat everyone who walks in the door like they’re family.
As you look around the Alehouse you will undoubtedly notice the stunning woodwork and incredible atmosphere, but if you look a bit closer you will see the subtle hints of a family. The hostess stand is lined with pictures of their kids, the family tricycle is hung from the rafters and their son’s footprints are set in the concrete as a reminder that they are all in this together.
Set one foot in the door and it is obvious that people love being at the Alehouse. Guests sit conversing while enjoying great food and typically a frosty beverage, or two, but what stands out the most is the positivity and friendliness of the staff. The owners pride themselves on treating others like they would like to be treated and this policy is clearly visible when it comes to their staff benefits. We are open 7am - 6pm, Monday through Friday. We allow our families to choose the schedule best for them (2 - 5 days) based on their schedule and our availability. Some children attend the full time program 7am - 6pm. Some children attend the morning session 8:3 am - 12, and others stay for a hot lunch until 1 pm. Others attend the afternoon program from 1 - 3:30 pm.

We also have a center 3 miles away in Danville. Both schools have small classroom sizes and are protect by secure, alarmed doors. We focus on preparing the children for kindergarten academically and socially while having fun, doing arts/crafts and enjoying music/singing.
Established in 1981, Diablo Hills Country School is a family venture that provides safe, educational experiences that last a lifetime. Our student to teacher ratios are consistently lower than mandated by the state in order to best develop each child, unlike many high volume commercial day care center competitors. Our facilities were built with smaller classrooms in order to provide a warm, home like learning center. Our curriculum is a developmentally structured program that supports the goals of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District and prepares the children for Kindergarten while having fun. Our goal is for the children to develop a positive self image while honoring each family's unique cultural situation. We are fully licensed by the State of California Department of Social Services and are currently undergoing the NAEYC process in order to obtain NAEYC accreditation. Over the years, Diablo Hills Country School has won many awards, which include, but are not limited to, PACE Child Care Center of the Year in 2006.

Life is Sweet is a dedicated gluten free bakery and café located in charming downtown Danville, California. San Ramon Valley High School graduate and Bay Area native Julie Krause, attended the California Cullinary Academy in San Francisco, and immediately went to work in a small local bakery specializing in wedding and custom cakes. After 9 years of perfecting her skills, she returns to Danville to fulfill her life long dream of owning her own Bakery.
Julie's stepmother Susan Hart, was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2013 and was forced to immediately change to an all gluten free diet. Both Julie and Kevin (Susan's husband) watched Susan struggle with being able to eat out while protecting her health. It became apparent there is a lack of options for people who either want or need to eat gluten free.
Together we bring you Life is Sweet Bakery and Cafe, serving gluten free breakfast, lunch, and assorted baked goods. In addition we have wedding and custom cakes, all of which are also Gluten free.

In the past five years alone, this includes 17 mountain lions, 36 California condors, 8 bears, and over 600 yellow-legged frogs.

The Cheesecake Factory
In the 1940s, Evelyn Overton found a recipe in her local Detroit newspaper that inspired her “Original” cheesecake. Everyone loved her recipe so much she decided to open a small bakery, but eventually gave it up to focus on raising her children, David and Renee. She moved her baking equipment to her basement kitchen and continued to sell cakes to some of the best restaurants in town.
In 1972, Evelyn and her husband Oscar moved to Los Angeles to try one last time to have their own business. With the last of their savings, they opened The Cheesecake Factory Bakery and began selling Evelyn’s cheesecakes to restaurants throughout L.A.
Their son David decided to open a restaurant in Beverly Hills in 1978 to showcase his mother’s cakes. Somehow, he just knew that a restaurant with an extensive dessert menu would be a hit. There was a line out the door on opening day. More than forty years later, many say the line has never stopped!
